Some facts about Lapiz Lazuli
**Lapis lazuli** is a deep blue, semi-precious stone that has been prized since ancient times for its intense color and has been used in jewelry, art, and ornaments. The name "lapis lazuli" comes from Latin and Persian, where *lapis* means "stone" and *lazuli* is derived from the Persian *lazhuward*, meaning "blue" or "sky blue."
Historically, lapis lazuli has been used to create ultramarine pigment, especially during the Renaissance, and the stone's deep blue color with golden elements of pyrite has often given it an association with the night sky and stars. In ancient cultures, such as ancient Egypt, the stone was used in amulets and for decorations on tomb masks.
Lapis lazuli symbolizes wisdom, truth and insight and is often associated with spiritual and intellectual development. In modern esotericism, the stone is believed to promote communication and expression, often linked to the throat chakra.
