These small "light angels" have saved many candlesticks made of wood and pewter from damage, as well as prevented burn marks on tables and other surfaces. More importantly, they’ve helped stop houses from catching fire or being damaged. They are an inexpensive and effective complement to smoke detectors.
They work simply: when the candle burns down to a certain point on the light angel, the lid flips shut and extinguishes the flame. We recommend testing them the first time you use them to ensure they work as expected when placed on your candle.
Indeed, they work! The somewhat forgetful photographer forgot to extinguish the candle after the photo session, thereby experiencing firsthand how well these prevent fires and damaged candlesticks. You can see this in the final image.
